The ANA InterContinental Tokyo hotel in Akasaka is holding a dinner buffet featuring food from around the world at its second- floor Cascade Cafe through Nov. 30.

In addition to the cafe's popular stone-baked pizza and boiled king crab, there'll be traditional dishes from various nations such as Ukrainian borscht, Valencia-style seafood paella from Spain, tacos from Mexico and fresh Vietnamese spring rolls.

The dinner buffet is served from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The price is ¥7,000 for adults, ¥5,600 for those over 65, and ¥3,500 for children aged between 4 and 8.

The hotel is a one-minute walk from Tameike-Sanno and Roppongi 1-chome stations.

Hilton celebrates Shichi-Go-San

Nov. 15 is Shichi-Go-San (7-5-3), the traditional Japanese family event that celebrates the healthy growth of 3-, 5- and 7-year-olds. Children wear colorful kimono as their families visit local shrines for purification rituals and to give thanks and pray for health and happiness (and, of course, to take commemorative photos).

From Oct. 19 to Nov. 16, you can do all this in the luxurious surroundings of the Hilton Tokyo with a Shichi-Go-San celebration lunch plan that includes a special kaiseki course meal in a private room at the hotel's Japanese Musashino restaurant and commemorative photos taken in the hotel's studio for a discount price of ¥98,000 for four adults and two children (the usual price is ¥110,000).

There will be small gifts for children to take home, such as Chitose Candy (a traditional sweet for the occasion). The hotel also offers dress rental, hair/ makeup services and a purification ritual at the hotel's shrine.

The lunch is available between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and costs ¥16,748 for adults and ¥7,527 for children.

The Hilton Tokyo is a two-minute walk from Exit C8 of Nishi-Shinjuku Station or 10 minutes from the West Exit of Shinjuku Station.

Halloween dinner special

The trick this year is to treat yourself to the special Halloween dinner course at the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so.

From Oct. 21 to 31, the hotel's casual dining Seasons Bistro, bedecked in a Halloween theme, will serve a Happy Halloween Dinner featuring American country-style dishes for ¥5,500. For children, there's a Halloween Kids Plate for ¥3,500. Children receive a jack-o'-lantern- shaped cookie with the regular course dessert.

The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Edogawabashi Station on the Yurakucho Subway Line.
