Mega-chef Gordon Ramsay cooks Tokyo a gala dinner
Gordon Ramsay comes to Tokyo
Gordon Ramsay, the world-famous chef based in London, will be in Tokyo on April 19, and the French restaurant Gordon Ramsay at the Conrad Tokyo, for which Ramsay is a consultant, will hold special events to mark the occasion.
Ramsay owns restaurants in London, Dubai, the United States, Ireland and France. His first restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, which opened in Chelsea, London, in 1998, is said to be one of the five best restaurants in the world. Gordon Ramsay at the Conrad Tokyo, which opened in 2005, is Ramsay's first restaurant in Japan.
On April 19, a seven-course gala dinner specially prepared by Ramsay himself will be served between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. The dinner costs ¥35,000 per person.
A "Sunday Lunch" tasting will be held April 19 (11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and April 20 (11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Sunday Lunch is a new menu scheduled to be introduced at the restaurant April 27, and sample menus can be tried for ¥8,800 per person. Sunday Lunch is an authentic reproduction of the recipes in the "Gordon Ramsay Sunday Lunch" cookbook, which received rave reviews in Britain.
The restaurant is on 28th floor of the Conrad Tokyo hotel in the Tokyo Shiodome Building, a one-minute walk from Shiodome Station.

Southern Tower's 10th birthday
To mark its 10th anniversary on April 11, the Hotel Century Southern Tower has put together a "Precious Moment" special accommodation package for couples celebrating their anniversaries.
After dinner at the Tribeks restaurant on the 20th floor, with glorious views of Shinjuku's skyline, guests can relax in a Superior Twin Room or Superior Double Room with a complimentary half-bottle of wine. The next morning, guests can enjoy a leisurely start to their day with a buffet breakfast at the Tribeks. Checkout time will be extended by two hours to 1 p.m.
The plan costs ¥41,000 per room (double occupancy), with an extra charge of ¥6,000 on nights before holidays. There are also plans available with a buffet breakfast for ¥30,000 and ¥36,000 (checkout time 11 a.m.). The packages are available through March 31, 2009.

Wines from Napa Valley in Kobe
The Crowne Plaza Kobe will present a wine-tasting dinner featuring wines from the Napa Valley on April 15.
Vintages from 13 wineries in the world-famous wine producing region of California will be showcased at "Taste Napa Valley 2008" in the hotel's Sky Banquet room on the 35th floor.
Together with panoramic night views of Kobe and live jazz band music, buffet menus by executive chef Michinobu Kobayashi will emphasize the delicacy of the exquisite Napa wines.
The Sky Banquet will open at 6 p.m. for cocktails and dinner will begin at 7 p.m. The dinner costs ¥10,000 per person.
The hotel is a one-minute walk from Shin-Kobe Station (Sanyo Shinkansen Line), or a 16-minute walk from Sannomiya Station.
