A fashion show staged by Asian designers, and textile and craft fairs are some of the activities featured at the two-day event. For the main fashion show, designers from Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan and Indonesia will present original designs that use fabrics provided by well-known Japanese kimono textile manufacturers.

One designer showing is Sukmawati Nita Lestari, a batik (traditional Javanese cloth) designer from Indonesia. Her outfits include materials provided by Takakurazome, a Kyoto company that specializes in traditional hand-printing techniques.

There also will be booths selling traditional Japanese crafts and others promoting sightseeing. On Nov. 17, there will be a demonstration of skills by some craftsmen from Kyoto and the Nobushi taiko (drum) troupe will perform. The next day the focus will shift to fashion and include various runway shows.

Sakura Collection will take place at the Minami Hiroba and Mizu no Hiroba at Kansai International Airport in Izumisano, Osaka on Nov. 17 (11 a.m. till 7 p.m.) and Nov. 18 (10 a.m. till 5 p.m.). Admission is free. For more information, visit www.sakuracollection.com .
