Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 New National Theatre Tokyo presents Puccini's 'Tosca' operaBy JAE LEE
Special to The Japan Times
This December, the New National Theatre Tokyo (NNTT) will present Giacomo Puccini's opera "Tosca." Despite the passing of Wakasugi Hiroshi, the artistic director of NNTT, in July 2009, production has gone on and is set to be more lavish then ever. This is the first "Tosca" production at NNTT since 2003 and will be performed by Japan's oldest classical orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic. The production will mark the NNTT debut of conductor Frederic Chaslin and feature star performers including Iano Tamer, John Lundgren and Ken Matsuura. Giacomo Puccini's "Tosca" will be performed at the New National Theater Tokyo on Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m.; Dec. 5 at 2:00 p.m.; Dec. 8 at 2:00 p.m.; Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m.; and Dec. 13 at 2:00 p.m. For more information, call (03) 5352-9999 or visit pia.jp/nntt/
