Friday, Nov. 3, 2006 `A BECKETT EVENING'Noh finds inspiration in playwrightTo mark the centenary of the birth of modernist Irish playwright Samuel Beckett, the Embassy of Ireland is organizing "A Beckett Evening" at the Tessenkai Noh Theatre in Aoyama, Tokyo on Nov. 4 and 5. As part of the Nov. 4 program (6:30 p.m. start), noh actor Tetsunojo Kanze will present a recitation of the Beckett poem "Neither." Rieko Suzuki will perform in "Rockaby," one of Beckett's later plays. "Rough for Theatre 1" will be presented by two Irish actors. This program will be repeated on Nov. 5 (2:30 p.m.) in addition to a noh performance inspired by Beckett's experimental television plays titled "Quad."
