Ink views from a lost pagoda

Indian-ink artist Jim Hathaway, from New York, is presenting an exhibition, "Eyes of the Moon," in Yanaka, Tokyo, on the theme of views from the Yanaka pagoda, which is no more. The pagoda, the tallest of the Edo towers, survived the Greath Kanto Earthquake of 1927 and the wartime bombings. But it was burned down 50 years ago by a couple in their love suicide.

Exhibition runs 12 p.m.-6:30 p.m. through June 26 (to 5 p.m. on the last day and closed on Monday) at Gallery Kingyo (2-49-10 Sendagi, Bunkyo-ku. Tel. [03] 5815-7890). Free admission.
