Yasujiro Ozu in Mitaka, Tokyo

The Art and Culture Center of Mitaka, Tokyo, will screen a series of films directed by the renowed director Yasujiro Ozu. The morning session for each screening will start at 11 a.m. and the afternoon session at 4:30 p.m.

All the seats are reservation only. The schedule is as follows (No English subtitles): June 18: "Ukigusa Monogatari (A Story of Floating Weeds)" (1934, silent, with Midori Sawato as narrator) and "Higanbana (Equinox Flower)" (1958).

July 16: "Dekigokoro (Passing Fancy)" (1933, silent, with Sawato as narrator) and "Ukigusa (Floating Weeds)" (1959, a remake of "Ukigusa Monogatari").

Sept. 24: "Ohayo (Good Morning)" (1959) and "Akibiyori (Late Autumn)" (1960).

Oct. 15: "Kohayagawa-ke no Aki (The End of Summer)" (1961) and "Sanma no Aji (An Autumn Afternoon)" (1962).

Tickets cost 1,000 yen for adults and 800 yen for students. Call (0422) 47-5122. The screening will take place at Hoshi no Hall at Mitaka-shi Geijutsu Bunka Center (6-12-14 Kamirenjaku, Mitaka. Tel. 0422-47-5122). Take a bus from the No. 5 or No. 6 bus stop outside the south exit of JR Mitaka Station and get off at Hachiman-mae Geijutsu Bunka Center-mae.
