Imperial court poetry for people
Poetry reciters taking part in The New Year's poetry gathering at the Imperial Court will recite ancient and contemporary waka (31-syllable poems) April 24 from 2 p.m. at the National Theater's Big Hall.
They will recite five poems from the early 10th-century "Kokin Waka Shu (Collection of Ancient and Modern Poetry)," six poems from the early 13th-century "Shin (new) Kokin Waka Shu" and nine poems from among those recited at the 2005 New Year's court poetry recitation.
