Jazz ensemble sings for charity

The Howard University Jazz Ensemble will this month perform charity concerts for children and their families hit by the tsunami off Sumatra in December.

Howard University is an historic black university in Washington, D.C. Its jazz ensemble, established in 1975, is known for its excellent arrangements.

The concert will be held from 7 p.m. on April 28 and 2 p.m. on April 29 in the basement auditorium of Amway Japan Ltd.'s head office.

The program includes "Wave," "Bye Bye Blackbird," "My Shining Hour" and "BeBop Charlie."

Admission is free; donations will be collected at the venue.

To reserve, call Amway Japan at (03) 5428-7960 or send a fax to (03) 5428-7936 by April 18.

The head office of Amway Japan Ltd (7-1 Udagawa-cho, Shibuya-ku) is a 10-minute walk from Shibuya Station (along Inokashira-dori, near NHK).
