Shankar's acolyte plays sitar

A sitar concert and a magic show will be held from 6:30 p.m. on March 27 in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, to raise funds to help Sri Lankan children affected by the Dec. 26 tsunami.

Premadasa Hegoda from Sri Lanka, who studied under Ravi Shankar, will play the sitar accompanied by two other musicians, and three members of the Kashiwa Magic Club will perform magic.

The venue is Studio Wuu (Tel. 04-7164-9651) close to McDonald's on the east side of JR Kashiwa Station. Admission is 2,000 yen.
