Suzuki's ecological black ceramics

An exhibition being held near the West Exit of Tokyo's Shinjuku Station is featuring ceramic works called Tamaguro, literally "Tama black." Potter Motoya Suzuki developed the black ceramics using clay from Tokyo's Tama area over a period of more than 20 years.

Suzuki received a grand prix in 2002 in the second Ecology Earth Art Exhibition at the Saitama Prefectural Museum of Modern Arts. The forthcoming exhibition is being held in the Shinjuku-eki Nishiguchi Promenade Gallery in the basement of Yasuda Seimei Building through April 2.

About 25 tea bowls and vases will be on display. Free admission.
