Eating festival in Yokohama

Contemporary artists are now displaying works that examine various aspects of food and eating in an exhibition in Yokohama. Nine artists and groups are taking part in "Shoku to Gendai Bijutsu (Eating and Contemporary Art)," which is open 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. till March 15 at BankART 1929 Yokohama and BankART Studio NYK.

The artists delve into regionalism, privacy, communalist living, violence, critical thinking, sense of space, feelings of age and other issues around food culture. BankART 1929 Yokohama (6-50-1 Honcho, Naka-ku. Tel. [045] 663-2812 is close to Exit 1b of Bashamichi Station of the Minato Mirai subway line.

BankART Studio NYK (3-9 Kaigandori, Naka-ku. Tel. [045] 663-4677) is a four-minute walk from Exit 6 of Bashamichi Station.

Admission is 800 yen. Two other exhibitions -- "Reading Room" and "Evolution Cafe" -- are also being held.
