Chance to experience noh for less

Performances by a leading noh player and a veteran kyogen player can be seen for a reduced ticket price on Jan. 23 in Kodaira, Tokyo.

Kanze Tetsunojo, leader of the Tessenkai noh group, will play the main role in the noh play "Tamura," while Yamamoto Tojiro, a veteran kyogen player of the Okura School, will play the main role in the kyogen play "Sado Gitsune."

"Tamura" is set in the Kiyomizu Temple in springtime. The first half is characterized by fantasy-like beauty and the latter half by strong rhythm and intense action.

"Sado Gitsune" is a comedy revolving around a dispute between Sado and Echigo farmers over the question of whether foxes live in Sado Island.

Tickets are 3,000 yen and 3,800 yen. To order, call (042) 346-9000 or (0570) 02-9988 (P-code: 356-461).
