Glittering glass and live music

An enchanting glass "Christmas tree" and live music are bringing seasonal sparkle to the garden at Hakone Glass Forest (Hakone Garasu no Mori) as Christmas approaches.

The "Flash Tree," as it has been dubbed, is a 10-meter-high objet d'art decorated with about 40,000 pieces of cut glass that sparkle in the sunlight. It will be on display through Dec. 25.

Meanwhile the Venetian Glass Museum in the compound is featuring about 30 glassworks connected with Christmas.

To get to Hakone Glass Forest, take a bus to Tawaraishi (in the direction of Togendai-Kojiri) from JR Odawara Station. The journey takes about 40 mins.
