Play brings music obsession to stage

On Dec. 4 for one night only "The Double Bass," adapted from the novel by Patrick Suskind, will be performed at Club Vanilla in Tokyo's Roppongi.

The show will star celebrated American actor and director Louis Fantasia in a one-man comedy about a musician's obsession with sex and music. Fantasia plays the double bass himself and the production includes music by Mozart, Schubert and Brahms.

Fantasia's career has covered five continents. He has produced and directed over 100 plays and operas. He was the first American to direct a show at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London and has recently published a book, "Instant Shakespeare," which looks at Shakespeare at the Globe.

Club Vanilla is in the TSK Building, 7-15-30 Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo; a 2-min. walk from Exit 4B, Roppongi Station, Toei Oedo and Hibiya subway lines. Doors open at 7 p.m. for a 7.30 p.m. start. Admission is 3,000 yen with one drink. For more information, call Michael Naishtut on (090) 8947-3701.
