OF NOTE

Swing along to jazz classics

The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, a big band from the West Coast, will make a rare TV appearance in Japan, performing standard jazz tunes including Duke Ellington pieces.

It will be featured in "Daimei no nai Ongakukai 21 (Untitled Concert 21)" on TV Asahi at 9 a.m. on Nov. 21 and 28.

Singer and guitarist John Pizzarelli will also appear.

John Clayton, co-leader of the group, acknowledges the influences of Ellington, Quincy Jones and Thad Jones.
