OF NOTE

Free tickets for plays in Tokyo

The Japan Times is offering eight free tickets to readers for two Japanese plays being held in Tokyo this month.

The plays are "Uchu no Shotai -- Bangaihen (The True Face of the Universe -- An Extra Edition)" by the Tateyoko Kikaku Company, Tokyo, and "Rakuen Dansu (Paradise Dance)" by the Manrui Tori King Ichiza Company, Fukushima.

The first play is about five trainee monks who are dispatched to a temple where the chief monk has just died. While working in the temple's storage, a woman suddenly appears and asks them a difficult question: Where do dead people go?

The plot of the second play revolves around Japanese people stationed in or visiting an island tax haven and a maid fathered by a Japanese man who fled the island. It touches on what the world and our relationships mean to us and our sense of time and space.
