Japanese-Swedish art cultivated

Five Swedish artists and five Japanese artists will exhibit works from Sept. 7 to 17 at the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo on the theme of "Cultivating Art -- Odla Konsten"

The exhibition, organized by the Sweden and Japan Art Exchange Program (SJP), will focus on nature and the inspiration contemporary artists derive from it.

The SJP groups people in Japan and Sweden who, since 2000, have been dedicated to increasing contact between artists and organizing art exchanges between the two countries. Participating Swedish artists are: Leif E. Boman, Annica Danielsson-Almen, Carl Fredrik Hellstrom, Eva Kallander and Gunilla Leander. The Japanese artists are: Hitomi Iwano, Sakuyoshi Kato, Yukiko Kitagawa, Shungo Shimizu and Atsushi Nakamura.

"Cultivating Art -- Odla Konsten" will be held 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday Sept. 7-17 at the Swedish Embassy.

The embassy (1-10-3 Roppongi, Minato-ku; tel. [03] 5562-5050) is close to the South Wing of the Hotel Okura. Admission is free.
