Ozu's 'Ohayou' staged in Saitama

Yasujiro Ozu's 1959 movie "Ohayou," which tells the story of a suburban family struggling with Westernization in the late '50s, will be brought to the stage this week at Saitama Arts Theater.

The stage version, "Hello, Goodbye," is directed by Juichiro Takeuchi and stars Maiko Kikuchi.

The shows start at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Aug. 27 and 28. Tickets range from 1,500 yen to 4,500 yen. To reserve, call 048-858-5511.

Saitama Arts Theater (Saitama Geijutsu Gekijo, 048-858-5500) is a 10-minute walk from Yono Honmachi Station on the JR Saikyo Line.
