Videos offer new views of paradise

Video pieces by six artists from Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Iran and Portugal are being screened in a three-day event through July 25 titled "Video Art Screening: Tokyo Vol. 3" at Tokyo International Forum.

The theme is "paradise views," and the event deals with the various images of paradise current in contemporary society. The artists are Bjorn Melhus (Germany), Jeroen Offerman (the Netherlands), Meiro Koizumi (Japan), Seifollah Samadian (Iran), Joao Onofre (Portugal) and Chikako Yamashiro (Japan).

At the Forum's Hall D1, there will be three screenings per day of programs that combine several pieces. Each work is just 5-10 minutes long.

Before each screening, curator Keisuke Ozawa will talk about the artists and their works.

The schedule is: 4:30 p.m., 5:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. on July 23 and 24, and 1:30 p.m., 2:45 p.m. and 4 p.m. on July 25. The entrance fee is 1,000 yen for adults, 800 yen for students.
