Nagoya thespians take New York

The Nagoya Players, an English-language theater group of foreign and Japanese residents based in and around Nagoya, will present "The Credeaux Canvas," penned by Keith Bunin, on June 19 and 20.

The story: Three 20-something East Villagers are desperate for a break. Winston is a brilliant young portrait painter, and his friend Jamie a washed-up and recently disinherited artist whose girlfriend, Amelia, an aspiring singer, works as a waitress. When Jamie dreams up a plan to make them rich, based on forging the works of an obscure French master, the three look to realize their wildest dreams.

The play is showing at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on June 19, and at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on June 20 at the Mini Theater of Aichi Arts Center. Advance tickets are 2,000 yen (1,800 yen for students) and 2,500 yen (2,000 yen for students) at the door.
