Shakti set to shake up Yokohama
Shakti, an internationally acclaimed dancer of Indian and Japanese origin who is known for her exotic and erotic style, will perform a contemporary dance show May 22-23 in Yokohama that incorporates classical Indian dance techniques and yoga movements.
Shakti will perform at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on May 22 and at 3 p.m. on May 23 at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse #1 (Yokohama Aka Renga Soko #1) with her VasantaMala Dance Company, which performs abroad 80 percent of the year.
The program consists of "Empire of the Senses" and "Realm of Desire," both of which premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
