Saitama to host six-film festival

A three-day film festival will open on Feb. 27 in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, featuring six Japanese works in different genres, including fiction, documentary and animation.

The festival, Muse Cinema Section/Sekai ga chumokusuru Nihon eiga-tachi, Part IV, will be held in Maakii Hall at Tokorozawa Shimin Bunka Center Muse, and feature talks with the directors of each film.

The schedule is:

Feb. 27: "Hotel Hibiscus" (Yuji Nakae, 2002); "En'an no Musume (Daughter from Yan'an)" (Kaoru Ikeya, 2002, Documentary). The latter is subtitled in English.

Feb. 28: "blue" (Hiroshi Ando, 2001) and "Akarui Mirai (Bright Future)" (Kiyoshi Kurosawa, 2003). The latter is subtitled in English.

Feb. 29: "Hebi Ichigo (Wild Berries)" (Miwa Nishikawa, 2002), subtitled in English. "Yamamura Animation Zukan" (Koji Yamamura). The latter is a compilation of eight works from 1990 to 2000.

On each day, the first movie will be screened at 2:30 p.m. and the second at 6 p.m.

Tokorozawa Shimin Bunka Center Muse (1-9-1 Namiki, Tokorozawa, Tel. [04] 2998-7777) is a 10-minute walk from Koku Koen Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line.
