A requiem for your loved ones

Anyone who wishes to console the souls of dead relatives or friends is invited to submit their names to a choir group that will sing a requiem at Tokyo Cathedral (Maria Daiseido) on Nov. 7.

The names will be included in the program for a performance by Heinrich Schutz -- Chor Tokyo, to be conducted by Yumiko Tanno.

The names must be sent either by postcard or fax and arrive on or before Oct. 28.

The sender must include name, address and telephone number, along with the names of those whose memory he or she wishes to honor at the concert. It is requested that furigana be written alongside any kanji when giving names.

Postcards must be addressed: Musica Poetica, Nakamura Minami 2-24-12, Nerima-ku, Tokyo 176-0025.

Faxes should be sent to (03) 3998-5238.

Tickets to the concert (5,000 yen and 4,000 yen; 3,000 yen for students) can be requested in the same way.

The program for the concert is as follows:

"Totentanz" composed by Hugo Distler (1908-42), the No. 10 tune from "Psalmen Davids" and Part 3 of "Musikalische Exequien," both composed by Schutz (1585-1672), and "Ich habe genug/Schlummert ein," composed by Johann S. Bach (1685-1750).
