Concert and curry in Yokohama

A nongovernmental organization helping build kindergartens in Sri Lanka will hold a charity concert of Indian music and a curry-cooking workshop on Aug. 23 in Yokohama.

The concertgoers can eat Sri Lankan curry afterward.

Premadasa Hegoda, a professional Sri Lankan sitarist since 1974 and head of the Asian Education, Culture and Natural Environment Preservation Japan Support Center, will play to the accompaniment of tabla from 4:30 p.m. in Terano Hall at Hoshakuji Temple.

The temple is about a 15-minute walk from Negishi Station on the JR Negishi (Keihin Tohoku) Line or four minutes from the Tenjinbashi and Negishibashi bus stops on routes 110 and 113 from JR Sakuragicho Station, or route 98 from the West Exit of Yokohama Station.

For more information, call Terano Hall at (045) 751-4300.

Anyone interested in taking part in the cooking workshop should call Hogoda beforehand (in Japanese or English) at (03) 5242-3737. The workshop will start at 1 p.m.

The concert costs 1,500 yen for adults and 500 yen for junior high school students or younger.
