PIA film festival to open in HibiyaThe 25th PIA Film Festival, which will feature a competition section of young film directors as well as shorts by famous directors, will be held July 12-25 at Hibiya Chanter Cine 2 in Tokyo. The PFF Awards 2003 Competition will showcase 12 movies made by young directors from all over the world, and the First Steps of the Masters will screen early shorts by such directors as George Lucas, Akira Kurosawa, Roman Polanski and Patrice Leconte. The World Now, a program focusing on documentary masterpieces, will feature Michael Moore's "The Awful Truth" as well as Japanese movies. Advance tickets for each screening are 1,200 yen; tickets at the door are 1,400 yen.
