Nintendo World 2011: What did you think of the 3DS?

Nintendo allowed the public to tryits new 3DS handheld game console at the Makuhari Messe center in Chiba over the weekend. The device renders games in 3-D without the need for special glasses.

We only just bought our kids regular DSes, and they're stuck to them. It's interesting how Nintendo have done their marketing campaign: They tickle you without showing you too much. I don't think ¥25,000 is too expensive, but we might wait till next year — maybe it'll come down in price.

My eyes hurt a bit. Some games implement the 3-D effect better than others. Fast-moving games like "Metal Gear Solid" and "Winning Eleven" worked well, but my eyes couldn't keep up with "Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition." I'll wait until there are more good games before buying a 3DS.

It's been pretty awesome. The 3-D effects are really cool and they don't strain the eyes too much, ha ha — well, just a little bit. I've played "Steel Diver," "Nintendogs + Cats" and some augmented reality games, which were the best. You don't expect it to work so well, but it does.

I think the 3-D effect is wonderful. Game graphics have been getting gradually better, but 3-D feels totally new, especially as you don't need glasses. It does wear out your eyes, so you should switch to 2-D mode occasionally! I'm still not sure whether to buy one.

I liked the video demo for "Metal Gear Solid (Snake Eater)" and the soccer game ("Winning Eleven 3D Soccer"). It was fun. I wanted to play the "Zelda" game but the line was too long. I already have a regular DS, but I really want to get a 3DS when it comes out, too!

I think the 3DS is great. I like fights, so I really liked "Street Fighter" and "Dead or Alive (Dimensions)." I've always liked the "Dead or Alive" series. Having 3-D doesn't really change those games, just how they look. I'd like to buy one but I'm a student, so I have no money!
