Loaded with flashy special effects, Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov's ("Night Watch") Hollywood debut, "Wanted," exists simply to pump up viewers' adrenaline. James McAvoy plays Wesley, an account manager whose dull life changes after he encounters Angelina Jolie and learns that his father was a member of a 1,000-year-old assassins' guild headed by Morgan Freeman. Wesley joins the group, endures a sadistic training regime, realizes he has a special power, and goes after the fraternity's traitor who has killed his father.
