"Grace is Gone"By MIZUHO AOKI
Director: James C. Strouse
Language: English This low-key film traces the shock, grief, and love felt by Stanley (John Cusack), the father of two young daughters, who has just discovered that his soldier wife has been killed in Iraq. Unable to break the news to the girls, he takes them on a road trip from their home in Illinois to a theme park in Florida. It's a simple story and leads to the obvious conclusion: Stanley must tell the girls the truth. Yet, it's compelling and touching, with Cusack's mature performance adding great depth to the story. |
