Director: Sergei Bodrov

Language: Mongolian

An epic film tracing the early life of Genghis Khan from age 9 to the day he becomes Mongolia's khan. Russian director Sergei Bodrov portraits Khan as a calm, strong and defiant man with a divine aura that is cultivated through a series of hardships he faces such as being held captive as a child, etc. Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano brilliantly embodies Khan's wild, charismatic nature, and there are stunning landscapes and thrilling battles. Nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
