"Penelope"By MIZUHO AOKI
Director: Mark Palansky Language: English
Christina Ricci is Penelope, a rich girl born with a pig's snout from a curse placed on an ancestor. Her overly protective mother (Catherine O'Hara) locks her in their mansion where potential blue-blooded suitors — whose love can lift the curse — arrive, but all end up fleeing in horror when they see her (although the nose is rather cute). She finally escapes into the real world and discovers her identity. A charming Tim Burton-esque film, but not in the same league as "Edward Scissorhands." |
