Mr. Magorium's Wonder EmporiumBy MIZUHO AOKI
Director: Zach Helm Language: English The debut feature by Zach Helm (who penned "Stranger Than Fiction") is about a magical toy store where all those paper planes and Lego blocks act like they're alive, and its proprietor, 243-year-old Mr. Magorium (Dustin Hoffman). The toys protest when Mr. Magorium decides to hand over the place to Molly (Natalie Portman). The colorful emporium might look pretty, but the plot and the characters are flat and insipid. Young children may enjoy this film, but for adults it's like a soak in a lukewarm onsen. |
