"The President's Last Bang"

Director: Im Sang Soo

The President's Last Bang

Language: Korean

A wry look at the 1979 assassination of South Korea's dictatorial President Park Chung Hee. Frustrated with Park's corrupt regime, KCIA (South Korea's CIA) Director Kim Jae Kyu (Baek Yoon Shik) is depicted here as deciding, almost impulsively, to kill the president during a regular banquet with him and his inner circle at a KCIA safe house. In a setting bristling with Kim's loyal agents, the shooting begins. This elaborately crafted film conveys the absurdity of internal conflicts with realism and a touch of black humor.
