L'orchestra di Piazza VittorioBy MIZUHO AOKI
Director: Agostino Ferrente Language: Italian Mario Tronco, a piano and keyboard player, and director Agostino Ferrente form a cosmopolitan orchestra in an attempt to save the Apollo theater in Rome (a city of more than 60 ethnic groups) from being converted into a bingo hall. This documentary captures the difficult process of finding immigrant musicians and turning them into a band. From an Indian and a Tunisian to a Cuban and an American, different cultural flavors are mixed up, creating an amazingly vibrant harmony, especially at the finale. |
