James' Journey to Jerusalem

Director: Ra'anan Alexandrowicz
Language: Hebrew, English and Zulu

James' Journey to Jerusalem
James' Journey to Jerusalem

In a light and relaxed manner, "James' Journey to Jerusalem" follows a naive African Christian, James (Siyabonga Melongisi Shibe), as his innocence is eroded by the spirit of capitalism. To make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, James arrives in Tel Aviv where he is mistaken as an economic refugee and thrown in jail. Soon he is bailed out by a Jewish contractor and is forced into illegal labor that exposes him to the material world. Intelligent and insightful, the film takes a sharp satirical look at capitalist economies, not only in Israel but elsewhere, too.
