KANSAIKichizaemon X: Sound of Darkness and Light of SilenceSAGAWA ART MUSEUMBy TOMOHIRO OSAKI
Staff writer
Since his involvement in the establishment of Dumb Type, a collective on Kyoto-based artists, Shiro Takatani has spearheaded the group's works, playing a vital role in design and aesthetics. Kichizaemon Raku, on the other hand, is the latest heir apparent to the prestigious Raku family, whose traditional pottery ware has become renowned worldwide. These two artists may appear to have little in common; however, their collaboration at Sagawa Art Museum reveals a surprisingly harmonious combination of mediums and aesthetics. Takatani's strong graphic visuals and Kichizaemon's pottery bring together completely different world views in a thought-provoking manner; till Sept. 29- April 7, 2013.
