KANSAI"Camille Pissarro: Patriarche de la Modernité"HYOGO PREFECTURAL MUSEUM OF ARTBy TOMOHIRO OSAKI
Staff writer
As the oldest of the French Impressionist group, Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) was seen by many artists as a role model. He was also the only artist whose work was featured in all eight "official" Impressionist exhibitions in Paris — a testament to his dedication and skill. Held in part to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the opening of Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, this exhibition showcases some 90 Pissarro works alongside those of fellow artists, including Claude Monet; June 6-Aug. 19. Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art; (078) 262 0901; 1-1-1, Wakihama Kaigan-dori, Chuo-ku, Kobe, Hyogo; Iwaya Station, Hanshin Main Line. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. ¥1,300. Closed Mon. www.artm.pref.hyogo.jp.
