Message to young people
Sometimes, you will have a very difficult time in your job. But, you will spend one-third of your life at your job. I think life wouldn’t be worth living if you only have something that makes you happy. When you have difficult times in your life, you can create an environment to enjoy it. You can make it if you accept difficult times as part of your life.

When I was in junior high and high school, I was the captain of the American football teams, leading my teammates. That experience led me to want to create my own company to do something on my own ever since I was a junior high school student.

When I was an elementary school student, my father died of hepatic cirrhosis. He wanted to be a doctor, and his death was a major influence on my deciding to go into medicine. He had received a contaminated blood transfusion, and was infected with hepatitis, later suffering from hepatic cirrhosis. Back then, sterilization and disinfection of medical equipment was primitive, and not much attention was paid to blood contamination. They even conducted blood transfusions with sloppy blood type cross matching. My father needed blood transfusions because he was born unhealthy and when he died, my mother fell into deep grief and I remember being very sad. For the sake of my father’s memory, I should have opted to go to a medical school to be a medical doctor, but I didn’t. That was because my uncle was a dentist and also because I had only negative impressions about hospitals, as my father died after a long hospital stay.

After graduating from college, I took a sales job at an office equipment maker to learn salesmanship. The company had very high standards. One time I returned to the office at 9 p.m. with no sales contract in hand; I was told not to come back until I had a contract. I learned from this experience that a salesperson had to bring results back to the office.

To further my career, I switched to the real estate industry and I thought it was the career for me. You work on commission in the real estate industry, meaning more work results in more pay. I once worked for three months straight without a day off. That was a good thing about working in real estate, and I didn’t find it that difficult. I had a good track record, and I was promoted to shop manager. As the manager, I only failed to hit my sales target once, and I shaved my head to atone for it. I thought I should do that, as I believed that I should not be a store manager if I didn’t have such a strong commitment to work. I later formed my own company, as I wanted to be No.1. That was my motivation to form MJ Home. I wanted to be No. 1 because I wanted to make my employees happy. The company makes a profit and is capable of enhancing benefit programs for the staff and increasing their pay. I wanted to create a company that makes those working there happy; that was my motivation to start the company.

Going forward, we will be engaged in the businesses of welfare, real estate and education, as we plan to make those three business categories our main operations. From now, the business environment of the real estate industry will be changing, especially in relation to inheritance taxes. As we expect more issues concerning inheritance taxes to come in the near future, we are now planning to run training programs on how to handle the issue. I want to make this company the No. 1 company in Shiga Prefecture, as well as Japan, simply because I want to make my workers happy. I want to make sure that employment at my company will be secure for a long time.
