Mai Linh Group
CEO & President Ho Huy
I grew up in a patriotic family and, especially inspired by my grandfather, who was an educator, I had a vibrant patriotism in my mind. Upon graduating from high school, I joined the armed forces. From then on, I became conscious of how I could contribute to my country.
I went to Russia and entered an automobile equipment school to study the technologies of advanced countries. After graduation, I returned to Vietnam and worked for a government-managed automobile equipment company, where I also served as a Russian interpreter.
For a training course on labor management, I went to Czechoslovakia, where I saw convenient services such as buses and taxis for the first time in my life. There were no such services in Vietnam in those days. That experience led me to start a transportation business.
Initially, I had cash flow difficulties and there weren't many experienced businesspeople in postwar Vietnam, so I focused on cultivating human resources.
The goal that we at Mai Linh Group pursue is to be the No. 1 transportation business in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The number of vehicles that we have is around 10,000. I would like to double or triple this number over the next five years.
