President & CEO Peter Henley
I was born and grew up in South America. When I was 7, I moved to the U.K. to study at a school there. I lived in many different places in my life and I always did my best. Even when I lived with my parents, I earned my own living. I did everything by myself, from personal to school matters. My mottoes since I was a boy are "Do the best I can" and "Work hard to attain the best results." My dream at that time was to retire early just like my father who retired when he was 48.
Before I took up my current post, I had a long and varied career. After graduating from university, I took on a law-related job. Then I moved to Morgan Stanley and several other companies. I also worked as an international lawyer in Asian countries. Later, I held a management position at a company and I attained the post of managing director at a service company.
My current company's success owes much to my predecessor, Mr. Kurt Rufli, and his employees, who founded this company. I think the stable service they established still has significant importance for our company. We ensure our great service with well-trained staffers who extend high-quality hospitality to our guests. Our hotels are also equipped with the most excellent spas and facilities in Thailand. At the same time, we are proud of our strict management of costs as well as the quality of our staff. Above all, I feel proud of having a promotion system that is transparent and easy to understand for everybody, and I think this is the best system as far as I know.
I have a clear and big goal. By 2018, we seek to become the group that leads the Asian hotel industry. To achieve this goal, this year, we have introduced a new system that has a positive influence on the global economy. I am looking forward to next year, when we will be advancing to a desired position in the hotel industry.
